Новая система Digital Outer Mirrors, анонсированная Lexus в сентябре, стала реальностью. В Японии уже можно приобрести новый седан Lexus ES с видеокамерами вместо привычных зеркал заднего вида. И это первый в мире автомобиль с такой технологией!
Вместо зеркал на передних дверях снаружи установлены компактные камеры, снижающие шум и улучшающие обзорность. Изображение с них выводится на квадратные 5-дюймовые экраны у стоек лобового стекла внутри салона.
Кроме японской марки аналогичное решение подготовила Audi для электромобиля e-tron, а Mercedes-Benz использует 15-дюймовые экраны в салоне и камеры снаружи для тягача Actros. При этом не во всех странах мира законодательство разрешает замену камерами обычных зеркал.

В Японии Lexus ES будет доступен только с гибридной силовой установкой в версии ES 300h, кроме которой можно будет выбрать удлинённый вариант L и спортивный вариант F Sport. В остальном седан идентичен тому, что доступен в Европе и США.
