Премьеру хетчбэка, которая должна была состояться на ралли Австралии, пришлось перенести из-за отмены самой гонки, чему причиной послужили большие лесные пожары. В Toyota все же подобрали альтернативное место первого показа Yaris GR-4: на публике хот-хэтч впервые появится в рамках фестиваля Toyota Gazoo Racing уже 15 декабря.
Однако там новинка хоть и продемонстрирует ходовые качества, выступит все же будучи одетой в фирменный камуфляж. А полноценная премьера Yaris GR-4 состоится во вполне традиционных условиях – на автосалоне в Токио, который откроется 10 января.

Вместе с объявлением графика дебютов производитель опубликовал еще один тизер, который только добавил вопросов. На фотографии Yaris GR-4 запечатлен с трехдверным кузовом, тогда как у более ранних прототипов, попадавшихся на глаза фотошпионам на том же Нюрбургринге, дверей было пять. Какой кузов станет серийным, пока достоверно не известно.
Неясно также, какой именно двигатель получит хот-хэтч: в Toyota подтвердили только использование неких раллийных технологий в конструкции. По одной из версий, "Ярис" укомплектуют системой полного привода и четырехцилиндровым турбомотором, а по другой, такой агрегат будут устанавливать только на "боевую" модификацию для раллийных трасс, а гражданскую оснастят более компактной и слабой трехцилиндровой версией.

Toyota will unveil "GR Yaris" at Tokyo Auto Salon

What's more, we reentered the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) in 2017. TGR claimed five wins in the 2018 season and took the manufacturer's title and Driver's and Co-driver's title in the season of 2019.
TGR announces the arrival of an all-new sports car―a car that incorporates all the technologies, knowledge, and experience learned from WRC.
Toyota's president, under his TGR Master Driver code name "Morizo," has just performed the final test of the car, pushing it to its furthermost limits. We are delighted to share the film taken of the test.
In advance of the world premiere at Tokyo Auto Salon, the car will be camouflaged in the signature red-black-and-white TGR colors, and will make its first official dynamic appearance at the Japan TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Festival 2019 on December 15.
